EARL conference 2014

EARL 2014 is a conference for users and developers of the open source R programming language.  The primary focus of the conference will be the commercial usage of R across a range of industry sectors with the aim of sharing knowledge and applications of the language.

EARL will showcase speakers from key areas of statistical and data analysis, from the finance industry to life sciences to sports analysis. In addition to the two day conference on the 16th and 17th September, workshops will be running on the 15th of September.

Keynote Speaker: Ben Goldacre
Ben Goldacre Ben Goldacre is a doctor, academic, campaigner and writer whose work focuses on uses and misuses of science and statistics by journalists, politicians, drug companies and alternative therapists. He wrote the Bad Science column for a decade in the UK Guardian newspaper, and has written for the Times, the Telegraph, the Mail, the New York Times, the BMJ, and more, alongside presenting documentaries for the BBC.  
Key Speakers: Hadley Wickham and Richard Pugh
Hadley Wickham is one of the foremost contributors to the R community. He has developed over 30 R packages to facilitate data munging, analysis and visualization, including ggplot2, plyr, reshape2, and lubridate among others. He is an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Rice University and Chief Scientist at RStudio.  
Richard Pugh has many years' experience working with data analysis products and specializes in R, SAS and S-PLUS. As co founder and Commercial Director of Mango Solutions, Richard has been instrumental in the development of R based applications for some of the largest companies in the world.
